I was present in the 1950's when the first sod of earth was turned over by Father McGuire, (the Parish Priest), on the land off Tile Hill Lane for what was to become the beautiful primary school named Our Lady of the Assumption R.C. school and church. I started my school years there in 1955 and left in 1960. I have very fond memories of my schooling and clearly remember Miss Shandley the head mistress and the large jar of sweets she kept on her desk and also Miss Bickley the school music teacher. Today (18/10/2017) I am saddened to read of the dreadful events undertaken by a school teacher and I hope with all my heart that the case will not cast a dark cloud over such a wonder school and the teachers. The unspeakable actions of one individual should be dealt with quickly and put behind all the hard work that has gone into decades of teaching.I will always be proud and grateful for my junior school and my church.SincerelyAgnes Raven School days (Gwen Janicki)
